The First Few Weeks
Rosa kept us waiting for her kittens with them eventually born five days late in the early hours of 23rd December; little Christmas kittens. Rosa managed very well considering it was her first litter however after five babies it was clear there was still one more to come and Rosa was too tired. After a trip to the vet on Sunday morning and a shot of oxytocin, the last little kitten was born in the vet's consulting room and we could bring Rosa home to rest and nest in with her six kittens. She had four boys and two girls, all red series Siamese (red, cream or apricot point).
Sadly three of the kittens struggled to thrive and despite our best efforts to hand feed them, one boy died on Christms Day and the other on Boxing Day. The little girl we called Holly and fed her round the clock until slowly she began to weight. After a week of handfeeding she was strong enough to feed from her mum without any help and has gone from strength to strength.
Rosa was a little surprised at her family at first but has soon settled down to be a devoted mum to her kittens.
